Privacy & Fraud Policy
How we handle your information, and where we stand on fraud.
Last updated: 24 September 2026
Namforce Life Insurance Ltd is a Namibian long-term insurer registered with and regulated by the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA). We hold personal information about our policyholders, the people they insure, their beneficiaries and anyone who contacts us. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do about it. It also sets out our position on insurance fraud.
Information We Collect
Depending on your relationship with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details. Your name, identity or passport number, date of birth, postal and physical address, telephone number and email address.
- Policy information. The cover you hold or have applied for, premiums, payment history, beneficiaries and the people named on your policy.
- Financial information. Banking details for the collection of premiums and the payment of claims, and your employer where cover is arranged through a group scheme.
- Claims information. The documents needed to assess a claim, which may include a death certificate, medical reports, police reports or proof of employment.
- Website information. If you complete a form on this website we receive what you type into it. We also collect basic technical information such as the pages you visit, which helps us understand how the site is used.
Why We Collect It
We collect personal information so that we can quote for cover, underwrite and issue policies, collect premiums, assess and pay claims, answer your questions and keep you informed about your policy. We also collect it because the law requires us to. As an accountable institution under the Financial Intelligence Act 13 of 2012, we are obliged to verify the identity of our clients and to keep records of that verification. NAMFISA may require us to produce records in the course of its supervision of our business.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only where it is necessary, and then only with:
- Our reinsurers, and the service providers who administer policies, process payments or assess claims on our behalf.
- Your employer or scheme administrator, where your cover forms part of a group scheme.
- Regulators, law enforcement and the courts, where we are required or permitted by law to do so.
- Professional advisers such as our auditors, actuaries and attorneys, who are themselves bound by confidentiality.
Where a service provider handles information for us, we require them to protect it and to use it only for the purpose we gave it to them.
How We Protect It
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep personal information secure, including restricted access to our systems, staff confidentiality obligations and secure storage of physical records. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we ask you not to send sensitive information such as identity numbers or banking details to us by email or through the contact form on this website. If we need those details, we will ask you for them through a secure channel.
How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information for as long as you hold a policy with us, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to retain those records. The Financial Intelligence Act obliges us to keep identification and transaction records for a minimum period after our relationship with you ends. Once no legal or business reason to retain information remains, we destroy it.
Your Rights
Namibia recognises privacy as a fundamental right under Article 13 of the Constitution. Comprehensive data protection legislation has been drafted but is not yet in force. Regardless of that, you may:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to stop sending you marketing communications, which we will action without affecting your cover.
- Ask us to explain how a decision about your policy or claim was reached.
Write to info@namforce.com.na and we will respond as promptly as we reasonably can. We may need to verify your identity first.
Cookies and Website Analytics
This website uses a small amount of technical information to function properly and to measure how the site is used, such as which pages are visited most often. This is used in aggregate to improve the site. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings, though parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Our Position on Fraud
Insurance fraud raises the cost of cover for every honest policyholder. Namforce Life Insurance has no tolerance for it, whether it is committed by a client, an intermediary, a service provider or a member of our own staff.
Fraud includes, among other things:
- Giving false or incomplete information on an application, or failing to disclose something we have asked about.
- Submitting a claim for an event that did not happen, or inflating a genuine claim.
- Providing forged or altered documents in support of an application or a claim.
- Taking out a policy on someone's life without their knowledge or an insurable interest in it.
- Diverting premiums or claim payments, or misrepresenting our products in order to sell them.
Where we identify fraud we will decline or void the policy, reject the claim, recover any amounts already paid, and report the matter to the Namibian Police and to the relevant authorities. We may also share information about the fraud with other insurers and with industry bodies, so that it can be detected elsewhere.
